Hang Gliding Club Comp

Post by John Wallis »

I know it's short notice and I know the forecast looks unsetteled but we might get a day out of tomorrow at Cross Fell. If you could attend stick you name below. If there's enough can make it we'll give it a go, if not we won't.
This is one of the most unsettled spells of weather I've seen since last year

Since it's looking a bit too unsettled for our planned microlight trip to Popham I'll be up for this John, possibly Steve Gill as well.

OK lads we'll give this ago. I'll be on the hill early setting up some turnpoint markers so give me a ring if you need any info on 07918082902. Try and be on the top of the hill for 10.30am any late commers I can brief them on the tasks when they arrive. I'm going to try and get 3 tasks in so it should be great fun. If you haven't got 4x4 try and get a lift from someone who has or meet them at the bottom of the hill. Failing that be at the bottom of the track at Kirkland for 9.30 ish and I can get a few on the van.

Cheers

John

Just had 3 more phone calls Clive Bridges Dave Weir and Mad Dog so this is gathering momentum. Ronnie people were phoning me and emailing me to hold it tomorrow as it's the first usable SW Wind this year. I'm never going to please everyone and you told me the school was booked solid so I didn't expect you to take part anyway. I would have loved Gary Sten Wendy Peter Rutherford etc etc etc but the way the weather is it'll be dark nights before long so I've just got to give it a go. I'm never going to please everyone.

Thers is still 3-4 months of good flying weather, I can't believe the rush into this... so is this going to be the format for future comps ? everybody in the club should have a fair chance of taking part !

Rush........... We've been waiting months for a SW wind at the weekend.

To be quite blunt I'm glad you can't make it. I've competed in the club comp since 1979 and there wasn't a year that went by that you didn't spoil the competition with your moaning and groaning and childish behavior...and you continue to do so in this posting. Take a look at Wendy's post and how she replied...A true champion full of guts...She said " I can't make it I'm working, have a good day"

Weather permitting we will have a great day tomorrow.

Just got back from Lowca, where we sat under a cloud and it pissed down aswell. However we did get the gliders out for half an hour before the wind got silly strong. So afters yesterdays flying that's three gliders plus a tandem I need to dry out. God I love the summer...

You never know though it may drop off latter, my moneys on September 28th
