We potentially have five team members...... but need six!!
My guess at the minute is that it will be Model Ridge. The forecast looks set for NNE / N all weekend, and saturday looks a stunning day.... nice and warm with perfect wind........

The difficulties with another team are purely down to numbers...... there were 30 pilots who turned up for the Cumbria round three weeks ago, and the hill was busy, even though we did not fly!
And we only have one team entered into the round.
But it would be good to have more names??
We are after all defending our title as club champions!!

BCC PILOTS...DO NOT GO TO HAWES TOMORROW. HEAD FOR MODEL INSTEAD
Now 100% certain model tomorrow, and probably Sunday as well. Here is the latest message from the Dales club:
Hello All,
The good news, The Bcc comp is on for this weekend.
The Good news for some – those that live on the eastern side.
The best forecasts we have are suggesting North wind on Saturday, North or North East Sunday – Therefore we have no option but to move the arrangements.
For the second year running the Yorkshire dales national park will be expanding to Cover Model ridge.
The comp will be at model ridge (Near the village of Carlton) with the options of Carlton bank-close by if there is a touch of west and Cringle- next to model if there is some north east.
We are currently checking that overnight camping is ok. For a map of the site and more info go to the local club site at www.nysc.org.uk.
Give me a bell or text if you need to 07999606084 – I may not be able to answer emails Friday as I will be traveling to Model.
Cheers Ogi and Kev (dales captains)
What are people planning on doing Saturday night? Going home or camping over on Model??

As expected, camping at Model has been cleared with the owner of Lords Stones \Cafe by NYSC:
Just been to the café at Model ridge and the owner is happy for us to camp. Free camping! All we ask is that you use the café. Please don't fire up the barbi when John is letting us camp for free. Very reasonable prices. Real ale and kronenburg £2.00 a pint vans of lager from £1.00, food £3.50 - £6.50 and full English available for those hangovers. He will be leaving the toilets open all night as there are other groups staying as well.
Regards
Richard Cardwell

Might be making a rod for my own back here. Assuming it is going to be more than top to bottoms ( )..(i know that there is no bottom landing at Model) .......do you need any recovery drivers for this weekend?? Ouch, ow that hurts, i can feel the pain already..........
I should be available Saturday and poss Sunday.
Have fun.

I have the airspace marked as far down as York on an OS map........
Which guarantees nothing more than a flop over the back.......
BUT, being optimistic and all that, and it being a comp - meaning that the red mist will be down and people will not be tied to the ridge......
A retrieve driver would be FANTASTIC!!
CHEERS!!!

Hope the weather is a little better over the weekend than it was today.
The promised light northerlies eventually arrived around teatime, having been blown out until then. Around 7 or 8 of us had a few pleasant, but short flights, though we all made it to cloud base.
Not really difficult when the cloud was half-way down Cringle
All packed up around 8pm when the low cloud got even lower, and it all got a little foggy.
