brian day enters the 100 club

fantastic flight brian over 5.5 hours thats some flying and patience, i bet mad dog just loved you when he found you?

well its hot and sweaty in spain but still should get some flying but nothing to match the big 100 pilots

Thanks to everyone for their comments phonecalls and texts. Yes still buzzing and shattered. It was a long and tiring flight, 9 years flying and still learning all the way through the flight.
Without other people around this type of flying would be even more difficult. Huge thanks to Mad Dog Miller who stayed up well past his bed time, learned how to use a Tomtom and got to drive my van around the countryside.

Six of us flew as a gaggle up to the A1 helping one another, Ed, I'll guide you round the ATZs Cleasby, Ali, Dave Smart (I'll see how low I can get as many times as possible and piss you all off by climbing higher than you) plus 2 others. Life around the A1 and the ATZs became hard going with very weak climbs and no one could find the climb to keep us together, we all drifted off in very slow climbs. Eventually my climb drifted over a town which worked well. At 60km I was thinking the day was done, but cumis started to develop over villages in front, so it was hopscotch to each town. I could see the sea air marching inland towards me, but a good climb over a large town saw me at 4500ft and 87km. I drifted with the cloud to 95km then went for my goal,,,,,100km,,,,passing the 100km mark still at 4500ft I had one objective in mind,,,,,,get to the ground for a pee!!!

Half bar, a bit of rock n roll as I hit the sea air and I was lining up for the cricket field that I had landed in from Model a year earlier,,,,,didn't quite make the cricket field,,,,but hey, who can be upset after a flight like that!

I've downloaded my flight from the National XC league and uploaded it onto our site. For a brief moment I was lying a very close second to Ali

But before Gary gathered all his flooring together and ceremoniously burned his wings,,,,,,I deleted the other flight,,,,,,,back to where I belong,,,

You can now see the flight on Google Earth, if you really want to,,,,,I did!

All I've got to do now is find another flyable day and see if I can remember how to do it!

we need to pool our flights brian to knock ali off his perch, mind you though we have a crap year we have achieved flights that will stay with us a long time. the cheviots has givenn both us flights of over 30k and that is amazing and i think next year or sometime i will be priveledged to join that great club. briliant flight and better still you done it on your own that makes it even better.
