Ron running Whatsapp should not drain your battery anymore than any other app on your phone, though it will use up data when pictures are sent. So if you battery is draining then its more likely to be be something else on your phone using your battery

Ron, Gary is right it's not whats ap. You need to find out how to shut down all the previous programmes you have opened. They are always running in the background if you don't close them.
