LOL Gary there were many 2 wheel drive that made it to the top "Real Men" If it was the choice between carrying it up on your back or trashing your car the car lost out

Loads of us used to get up in 2wd, but I think the track was a little better years ago. (the weather was always better then as well)

Thats my Golf, the most rust prone car i ever owned, no wonder a lot of replacement part body panels were available.
How did I get it up the track? 'cos my throttle foot had all the finesse of a top class brain surgeon! (and lots of body panels were available)
