John Silvester 'X' rated Talk at Penrith 6th March

Post by lanceg »

Following a good day of flying on Cross Fell, this 'X' certificate thriller show had a good hearing.

The first half glimpsed into John's early days, climbing the walls of his Liverpool student home, falling in with a 'bad crowd' of adrenaline junkies in North Wales and climbing in the Alps and Himalayas with many famous names.
(A microphone would have been useful from the start - my sincere apologies to everyone - I forgot to check it had been provided as requested!)
At the break, John presented the CSC 2008 awards - http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/LanceClib ... srrtvLmSg#

Then we got to see why sponsor Ozone have given John the job title - 'Himalayan High Alitude Madman'.
Fortunately for me at least, the photo's and high definition videos of the incredible flying above and alongside 6 to 8km peaks were interspersed with some fastinating snapshots of travelling and living with people of the Karakorum.

John concluded with the words - 'crossing the Chogo Lungma was a life changing experience - I was so lucky to survive it'.
I count myself very lucky to have shared it.

Many thanks to all those who helped on the night.
