well what a day

Post by gary stenhouse »

well one of those days where its do you are don't you, well we did and it sure was worth it.

we went tailbridge first as would have been nice to get the Mad dog flying before he gets his new knee or knees. it was clear as the cloud dropped and the wind picked up we thought xfell area may be worth a look. we decided on Melmerby area as this gives almost every direction, and though seemed southerly by the time we walked up it was SW. so was taken of bellow the low scar and found plenty of lift so it was time for the squad to take off. we all got a good fly but had to keep a keen eye on the wind as the higher you got the windier. however as it was nice and smooth it was easy to enjoy the lift and the views

happy days with a pint in the Cumberland to set us on are way home

You did the right choice Gary. Although the cloud lifted, the wind picked up also. It would have been ok for the hangliders if it hadn't been so gusty ( 16mph at times and gusting to 35 ) Non of us flew in the end.
