Hi Gary,

Still waiting for the phone call regarding the accident on Saturday on Blease when the power lines were brought down, you messaged yesterday that you were out walking with you wife and would ring me back. CSC just want to know why a low air time pilot was lead up Blease when its advise 50hrs plus in the sites guide. We are also a little surprised you or nobody else related to the incident contacted the club to inform us, and it was only by chance we found out what had happened and who was involved. Can't find any mention of the incident elsewhere so had to post here.

For the NHPC info:

Pilot collided with power lines landing near football pitch at Blease. Pilot ok slight damage to glider. Power lines snapped resulting in loss of power to around 500 homes for a few hours.

Thank you for the call Gary, good to chat.

After chatting to various pilots after this incident its apparent how many do not fully understand the dangers power lines pose. I will be righting a safety update on how to deal with landing on power lines for the CSC safety bulletin and will forward to your club soon. Fly safe!
