Steve taught me to fly microlights a few years back.
He had a great sense of humour and was an all round really nice guy.
Very sad.

PPG
I spent a day training with Paul Haxby a few weeks ago and got flying on my paramotor. I had really enjoyable day. There are some vidioes below of my first efforts but more interestingly Paul did offer to do a talk on PPG flying on a club night if we are interested. https://youtu.be/kJRca7jIIeU http...

Runswick Bay
I’ve had another look at the tracklogs and in my view there is a discrepancy of somewhere between 20 to 70m with the track shown to the south west of where it should be, as pointed out by Gary and Luis. I think if the tracks were displayed accurately then it would show all pilots avoiding areas of p...

what's my line - Something to have a think about safety wise
Below are four bits of tracklog from Sunday’s fish and chip run.
If you were about to cross Runswick Bay which line would you choose and why?
For those unfamiliar with this area we are travelling from top left to bottom right.

accidents?
I’m really surprised by some of the comments in this thread. I may have got the wrong end of the stick but it sounds like some people are suggesting that accidents (or people making mistakes and getting hurt) are inevitable. In my opinion, we have a duty to share what we know about these incidents s...

tasks
if you want to set yourself a task you can also try
www.xc-challenge.net
it doesn't do the fancy triangle stuff like xcplanner but you can save your own tasks and upload an igc file to see how you got on (i don't think you can do this with xcplanner).

It might be worth having a butchers at the picture below before reading the rest of this. I’ve pondered over two aspects of my flight yesterday, the transition from Man At Edge to Melmerby High Scar and the landing; in that order. I don’t usually go direct from Man At Edge to Melmerby High Scar in s...

How many hours??
If you download and keep all you tracklogs in one place on your PC its easy to use the tool below to calculate how many hours you’ve flown in recent years.
www.mytrack.eu
I did 57:32:48 last year and 40:33:22 in 2013.
