I think the title of this vid is a bit harsh..... I assume the poster is the pilot himself if so he should be commended for coming clean so that others can learn from it.

Couldn't agree more Colin. I think as a club our primary focus has to be on safety; the auction can wait. I'm going to try my best to get there and feel that a show of hands from other club members (by posting there support here and arriving on the night) is a necessary step if the club is going to ...

Cheers Ron/Guys

It was a personal best for me but quickly overshadowed by Gary's East Hill flight; awesome!.

we've got it tough in Northumberland weather wise but the craic and 'camawadery' is second to none,.... flying wing tip to wing tip with you lot is the number one priority.

Well done Gary, it's good to see the NS cup in the north of England for the first time. Shame I couldn't make it (maybe next year?). Alex and Wayne are really canny lads, Wayne's been flying since he was fifteen and is an inspiration to watch thermalling I met Alex in Australia in 2000 and he has si...

Start to the season

As a bit of fun and as a means of getting us to 'think' about our flying can I suggest that the next time we going flying people switch their varios off. As a development task this is great as it helps us develop a 'feel' for what's going on and previously stated makes us think about where maximum l...

Can I suggest we have another development session, perhaps at the Lion and the Lamb at Horsley or the Blackbull at Corbridge, aimed at those hoping to do their first XC's or develop their soaring and thermaling techniques. Also next flying day that I'm available I'll put on a practical coaching sess...

A winch would be epic; simple. But it has to be in the correct location otherwise it will be useless; take a look at the XC Lent winch location and the flight they have done from there. After finding an appropriate winch location the next most important thing is getting a winchman who know's his stu...

Yep, I agree the whole thing seems a little unnecessary when there other options available. However stretching ones lines every now and then (especially after the wing has been in storage for a while) is a useful activity but only as a means of determining whether any shrinkage has occurred. Obvious...

Luckily we have grassed covered moorland to take off from. Flying at the coast is a bit of a concern given the salt and dog shite but probably better to use an old wing. I would say that newer gliders of the same make and model appear to fly better. I know that this sounds kinda obvious, with increa...

Your question is a tricky one to answer Graeme as the interpretation of flying conditions is so subjective. The day itself threw a m...

Probably a little too big as I stuggle to get it on the flight deck. It was the smallest Tab 2; I'm sure there's better options now. No problems seeing the screen in sunlight.

Wasn't really that keen but Maltby (Mavric) bent my arm. Pleased I did as loitering under the cloud to Leyburn with him was great fun. I felt that the day was a little rough at times.

Once set up right Xcsoar is great. The trick is the get the best device to run it on. I use a Samsung tab 3 but it's a bit big when put on my flight deck. A backup battery pack is required £20 from ebay.

Hi Steve

My system (xc soar and a android tablet) runs great. It cost about a hindred quid. The only down issues are the fact it's a little big for my flight deck and that I have to carry a backup battery (£20 on ebay).
