Crimdon or Hordon

Depending on the wind strengh Crimdon could be good if the wind comes round to E.N.E. Also Hordon is ok to fly, even when the tide is in, which is 15:30pm

Great day flying Saltburn Ciffs

John Wallis, you should of waited... told you the conditions would get better as the day went on ! took off (Marske) at 6.20pm lift was smooth and steady, flew straight down to Saltburn crossed the gap (just) then onto the cliff run. The lift was steady with a strong head wind but the seagulls in th...

Spot on Steve

Flying down wind using thermal & ridge lift is good fun but doing a triangle can be very hard work. (into wind stuff) The points reflect the task.

Have a go ! and then tell me what you think, but at the end of the day its the same for everyone... 00)

Good job done

You done a good Job with the XC league Steve, but I liked the Km instead of the OLC.

The 1x5 x2 were to give extra points for more difficult flights.

Next year the 'Winter League' will be National League rules so there should be no problems. 00)

Just a minute Steve.... I did answer Ian Miskin post ! (14th march XC league) It might not be the full answer that he was looking for but I did answer ! Its quite obvious who is winning the Winter PG XC league, Gary Stenhouse. We have only 1 flight submitted from Steve Gill (HG) so its obvious that ...

I'm not sure ?

Gary, I'm not sure what you are trying to say here ? after talking to you yesterday I was thinking about your accident and three things came to mind - Always have a 'B plan' - Never scratch when the 'tides in' (cliff flying & no beach) - Always have enough height to turn back into wind (big part...

Hordon (100 ft asl ) Or Crimdon (50 ft asl) tomorrow depending on the wind speed. I think anywhere inland will be too windy.

XC's in the North

There is no big secret in flying XC, big ones or little ones it just takes confidence to leave the ridge and go for it ! each time you try you will fly futher & futher. Most Big XC's are acheived by careful planning, extreme determination, and most of all being in the right place at the right ti...

Safety Matters section

Steve Marshall...how about a forum on 'Safety Matters' it could be above the 'Accident Book'

Please remember if you have had a bit of a bump ! stick it in the 'Accident Book' so everyone can learn from your experience ! it can also help to stop bigger bumps.

X fell

For first time PG's fly early morning or late evening to get used to the vast area and site awareness, remember there is no escape route other than over the top 3000ft asl ! so practise your 'B ears' and 'speed bar' work becuse you will get caught out in the gullies and sucked into low cloud at time...

Sergey

This is for PG's Sergey, as you know the material is very thin I'm not sure what baby wipes might do to the cloth (chemicals) plus baby wipes can dry out after time.

If you keep a small clean cloth in your harness you should alway find some water somewhere for when you land out.

Top Tip ! - Clean wing

Keep a small towel, clean cloth, and a bottle of water in your car for when you get your wing covered in sh..t (you will sometime) get it off a.s.a.p. you will then alway have a nice clean wing !

If you go XC keep a small cloth in your harness I'm sure you will find some water somewhere.

I was replying to Steve's post Gary...and like I said 'All good XC flights are studied on the ground first '

I've checked your flight and if you look on google earth (Clough) and it looks like you landed short on your return ? I can only accept from where you landed for the O & R

Cheers.

Airspace !

Have you got all the airspace, danger areas, down wind ridges marked out on your GPS ?

The golden rule of XC... if you dont know where you are land immediately !
