Crossfell ?

Crossfell could be fantastic tomorrow for HG's wind should drop off in the evening for the Pg's ? Titer's will be ok for HG's & Pg's due to being a much lower site in afternoon or evening. HG's have flown to the coast many times from this excellent thermal site, can be rough in strong winds but ...

Dust devils

Dust devil...don't thinks so Gary, these nasty little buggers are caused by very strong convection thats why they suck in dust, small stones, & litter. I love to watch them because they give you a good idea of how the air flows in nice thermals. And as you said the conditions were not to bad (no...

Rotor a possibility ?

Hi Gary, good to hear your fighting spirit is back...when I spoke to you in hospital about yer bump, you were clearly annoyed at yourself for flying in close for the first time and this was when you had your collapse ! so pilot error has to take some blame, I got caught out last year (Warkworth roto...

Working

Working today Gordie, sounds like a good day. Due to the weather forcast
the coast was the only choice on the east side.

Had some good training on the beach (Cresswell dunes) you can't beat the smooth sea air for training.

Hello Ian, I did say 'an excellent competitior at top level' don't knock yourself Ian, you can thermal as well as anybody. Its the consistancy & decision making which will get you there and if you are a full time pilot your 90% there. Look at the results on the comp scene they are all full time ...

Cheviot flying

While the elixor is still flowing, and the monsoon bends the trees on Frankie Lane drive...I hear the voice on the radio... "Germany calling!" "Even the birds have packed up and gone."...... "You have to fly; Take care; It's such a lonely sky They'll trap your wings while o...

?

Like I said, there is a world of difference when you are a fulltime professional...take nothing away from the lad (not sky god) its all down to very hard work, commitment, & extreme determination. Even you could do it John 00) if you had the time and money.

The XC League table

Can the XC league be only used for flights that qualify for the National XC League ? why are we using it for a personal flight log ? we do have a 'flight Log' section for members. The summer XC league starts on the 1st April 07 to the 31st 0ct 07 it would be nice to see the league for theses dates w...

John Wallis

John Wallis, you have more experience flying in thermals than most in our club, let yourself go and kick arse with your wing but don't forget it takes time. When the air is smooth practise some tight turns...both ways. like flying your HG, its better to load your wing up in good thermals rather than...

The right thing !

Sounds like you did the right thing Dave, full speed bar and going backwards ! The HG is a much safer option in these conditions. The turbulance getting into wave can be extreme ! especialy if the wind is strong, coming out of it can be fun too ! if the air is dry (no cloud) you will have to use you...

Gary, you are entering flights into the National XC league... why dont you ask them to stop the multipliers ? I dont how many times I've said this - out & returns & triangles are much harder than open distance flying this is why get you extra km's. Try doing an out & return....and I dont...
