Me too - my idea of camping is to be next to a pub that does good meals - and having eaten at the Fox before, it does :D

HOWEVER - 30th August is also the date for the Grasmere Show - http://www.nhpc.org.uk/nhpc/viewtopic.php?t=5267

There seems to be plenty of space in the "comments" section of the flight log. So maybe a good starting point would be to use this for a commentary on the flight (I guess that's what it's intended for.......) :) For example, Ali did a rather good job on his recnt Dales to Whitby flight. An...

I think that's a great idea Ronnie. I've found it very instructive to look at people's flight tracks on the league, even more so when they have posted some flight comments (e.g. last Saturday's flights by Ali, Jim Bittlestone, Wolfie etc. One of these days I might even be able to do the same

Grasmere Show Sun 30th August

C'mon you lot, after last year's pathetic showing, let's thrash the CSC for the famous NHPC-CSC trophy this year :D Take a look at the attached - see that trophy? CSC all over it, no mention of NHPC   Last year the forecast was crap, the day provided hours of soaring and the opportunity ...

Fantastic performances yesterday - well impressed - great to read about what's going through your mind (well the printable bits :) ) during the XC.

Inspirational stuff, and lots there to learn from. Now we just need a bit more of the same weather.

Definitely second that :) The talks by Jocky and Kitt were really good and saved the day for me on Saturday - free tuition for 3 hours :) Comp directors did their best given the crap weather, we nearly flew Carrock. Plenty of good ale, good crack and of course the occasional wet landing  ma...

That's one beautiful video Paolo. Watching it felt almost as good as actually being at cloudbase - conveyed that "mega" day feeling and the spirituality of floating at cloudbase.

Well done fella :D :D

See you at the LCC :)

Maybe it's a good job he didn't have any brakes to "control" his new "wing", then he would probably have missed the snow and hit the rocks instead :???: Very lucky guy I would say, lesson learnt (hopefully) and survived, not everyone is given that chance :o Mental video by the wa...

Cheers Kay :) Brian, yes I think the Fuji is pretty good on video (and fantastic on stills!). Problem is that the max SD card mine takes (Finepix 5600) is "only" 1GB and that only lasts 15 mins on high quality video setting :( Maybe it's a good job though - that Dave Horne is making far to...

No new toys Brian, just the Fuji "Finepix" digital stills camera. Has a good VGA video mode but the biggest SDA card it can take only stores 15mins worth at top resolution.

Hands frozen solid after 15mins anyway at this time of the year so that doesn't matter much

Clough Head in the grip of winter

Isn't it strange how snow and ice seem to make everything much more expansive. Maybe it's because of the novelty factor, after all there hasn't been this much snow continuously for 15 years or more.

Well with the euro sterling rate not looking too good, I'm thinking more about UK targets, so here goes - Beat my previous height which from memory was in 2007 in mid Wales, a measly 5200ft, shouldn't be too difficult should it :D - Overcome a natural fear of "going over the back" even if ...
