shower

here are a few pics. The splines on both the tap and the brass shaft are knackered and the whole mechanism is pretty stiff. Fnarr Fnarr!

Do crosslings sell to the public? Just up the coast road from me so pretty handy really if they do.

Club Night Back on 1st WED of Month free food and strippers!

I was expecting a big announcement on the forum about the move back to a regular 1st WEDNESDAY night of each month slot (except December) and the free bar meal for the first 25 CLUB MEMBERS through the door. No major announcement or is it tucked away on the same page as the HG Comp announcement?????...

does anyone know of a good plumber in newcastle area

I need to get my shower fixed ( not electric) but would rather give someone i know the work or at least someone who comes recommended as opposed to trawling through the yellow pages. The shower is an Elsan. Probably 10 years old or so. If anyone has a regular plumber they use and would be happy to r...

Depending on which forecast you believe it could be good or blown out.

Looks iffy for next weekend at the moment with a deep low expected to cross the UK on Thursday bringing a few fronts with it. Hopefully it ll whizz through so the weekend will be clear but maybe sat/sun we ll still be in the tail of the low. For my 2peneths worth it would be good to do repacks/ grou...

Paragliding in The Times

There was a story in today's Times about John Silvester who is now doing Tandems in the Himalayas for the public to go up to 5,500m with a paraglider.

Imagine your first tandem flight in the shadow of Everest or K2!!!

East hill

I m no expert and I ve only been to east hill twice but if you look out from east hill there are lots of fences, tree lined roads, power lines and a couple of low hills that the wind reaches before it sees east hill. You could well have thermals releasing before east hill mixing with smaller thermal...

Psc ns54

To be fair to those who aren't attending the psc round was cancelled a few days ago and people will have made other arrangements. Added to that the BBC were (correctly) forecasting strong northerlies from as far back as last weekend. Too strong for flying and the comp site didn't take a northerly. M...

The Lord Stones now closes at 5pm instead of 9pm.

A few of the walkers on the coast to coast got caught out by this turning up at 5 hungry and thirsty to find the cafe closing.

The gates get closed aswell.

Shipping wings overseas

I m been getting some daft prices from Parcelforce for shipping a wing over to Europe ( within the EU ) ie £125 for an 8kg package in a bow big enough for the wing. This seems ridiculous. Anyone on the forum had experience of shipping wings abroad? The size of the box seems to be the main issue. Che...

Hi Ali, Thats your interpretation after being a paraglider for 15 years and knowing what the sport is about. The article in the Journal does not mention training or infer there is any training system involved in paragliding. To Joe Public who dont know anything about the sport this is what we do.......

Unfortunately Ali the paragliding fraternity does not already possess a particularly great reputation out in the wider public. The total paragliding population can number no more than 6000. with one full time PR man at the BHPA and our own actions as our only means of generating a positive reaction ...
