Feb half term is the most expensive week of the year :-( I know,,, I've suffered school holiday prices for a very long time, interested, see what the prices are. Snow domes can work out expensive for what you get, may be able to do something for Braehead,(or how ever it's spelt) or Chill Factor, but...

In Memory

Ali Westle is organising a fly in for Saturday in memory of Mark Paterson. The post is on his FB page, for those not on FB or not friends with Ali, I've pasted it below for those interested in paying their respects. Not sure I could cope, but will give it some thought. Ok, so, I've just had one of t...

Just my thoughts and as you know I don't like competitions the thoughts are not based on personal preference as so many others are. The lack of comps over the last few years has been because those that shout loudest will only compete on the best days when distance is the goal. The lack of comps over...

If you look up at the cloud at about 45 deg, 10 - 11 o'clock (2-3) and you can see the edge, you should be able to fly to the side of the cloud and avoid going into it. Obviously this is just a generalisation, but a good rough rule of thumb. If your climb rate starts to increase start to take avoidi...

I've been looking,,,but can't find it!

The hassle and trouble that cross country flying causes, retrieves, no phone signal, loved ones worrying that your lost, friends that no longer fly with you because they end their day looking for you, long walks,,,,and so the list goes on!!! But is there a greater buzz, a greater sense of achievemen...

The rock n roll appeared again yesterday, I was on a long glide, relaxing looking at the views, I think I was hands off too, as I hit a little turbulence, the wing started rolling side to side. I got hold of the brakes, small imput and it stopped immediately, I thought about this post, but can I hec...

To be perfectly honest,,,,,I don't know! I think it's a natural feel and instinct and probably if you're having to think out loud, you'd probably be to late with your reaction anyway. I know I do it, because on a couple of occasions I've felt myself get tired and sit back, the wing has then gone awo...

The war cry of the Boresti and Brigantes is to be heard massing the Warriors to defend our noble land. We march from the great lands of Moneylaws, west hill east hill on onwards to Cross Fell where the Cumbrian blaggards will be driven back to their sheep pens! Already, we have spy's in the camp inf...

Interesting flying with them, the Alpina definitely has better glide than the Nova Mentor and the Carrera but what ever Kitt was flying was much faster and far superior glide.
Climb rate of Kitts was about the same as the Alpina and better than the other 2.

It is interesting that people feel the need for competition. Can I ask why? From my perspective, I don't need gongs, medals or certificates to enjoy my flying, just nice people, great views and of course good conditions. I have seen more near accidents and read of real accidents and reserve throws b...

That is one reason I got the tracker. I know that android phones can use a third party app, talk to Lloyd, that sends the data at different intervals, 1 min, 3,5 or how ever you want to send it which does have a saving on battery. My tracker works on a phone battery and gives 10 hours.

I've got the very small, very light, relatively cheap livetrack24 tracker. Better conection and saves phone battery. Perfect bit of kit, got mine from pg forum for €50 plus a £10 asda phone card, season sorted. New cost €169 or € 179 for mark2 text bundles available for landing texts, fb and Twitter...
