Looks good Mike - Could you maybe edit Hogden Law with reference to hot/cold status of otterburn. Entry to this area is permitted at no time unless you are flying something heavy, noisy and covered in camoflague.

There is interest in this from the Lanarkshires but they are wondering if it will be HG in any way............

Apparently this year they are entering the BCC.

Wallis is the man in the hot seat for this.

Have a look at this.........

This is a superb compilation from Gary Williamson.

Download it (it is safe), grab a glass of red and enjoy. Best watched with the sound - just leave it to run otherwise the sound goes out of sync.

If your interested in using GPS for competitions and judging turnpoints then google earth is fun but not very accurate. I'm guessing that all these graphics come from satalite images XX km over the earths surface. In patching those images onto a WGS84 model there is not going to be a perfect matchin...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Lots of reasons. It is a race harness with low hang points that will make it and you feel very over sensitive. There is also the theory that it is more prone to twisting of the risers (a bad thing). It has and enclosed bag for your legs - something you will not enjoy; as a beginner you will want you...

Yes Lance - in auto it will swich off if it decides you have 'stopped' either vertically or horazontally. I fly with it in manual and have to edit tracklogs in GPSDump before submitting.

Jim I think it was only last year 20+ pilots went from CP to P within the NHPC. Way back in the files on this site are many links associated with mock exams and online revison aids - you may dig them up with a couple of seaches. There was a time when the club went out groundhandling on the town moor...

THANKS!

A big thank you to Steve at the S&W for getting me back in the air again on Saturday and also Gary for the loan of the Golden. Another good weekend in the lakes if a little quieter than last week. Bewaldeth was great fun with lots of wave making things interesting (in good ways!). After busting ...

Those lovely folks that pay my wages have called me down to SOU for a few nights so I'm off the interweb. As the forecast stands it's looking good for the lakes (the Cheviots arnee blessed with southerly sites unless someone sorts Biddlestone for a busy flying weekend). Tinto's also looking good but...

Thanks to all the guys and gals who turned out and made an average weekend into something quite special. That is why the NHPC is such a belting club over the two days we must have had over 30 members joining us. When's the next one?

Worth reviewing the weather for the weekend - some significant variation in conditions over relatively short distances. From the forecasts it's looking like the west is by far the best with PG ruled out for the east of the country. It only takes things to move a little for cumbria to get it too........

It works sometimes but it is often worth 'trimming' the tracklog before and after the start / finish points you want to use before submitting them to GPSDump. It seems to get confused when tracklogs cross inside your proposed triangle. Under the current rules the 'gap' at the start/finish can be upt...

GPS Dump has a go at doing the FAI triangle but you do have to check carefully what you are getting. It often makes a mess of the 'gap' as does the analysis stuff on the Leonardo thingy. As Gary says time and effort on Google earth can optomise things in your favour if you need to 'create' an extra ...
