I would think a basic wing harness and reserve would help new pilots get into the air especially if they are short of money. The gizmos can come later once they've learned to fly. Also a radio so they can listen in for changing conditions ie wind picking up rain coming base dropping. It might seem l...

I've done it as I've got a lot of pain with shoulders and have had several steroid injections lately. What really set my left shoulder off was carrying my own and John Miller's glider down from Buttermere Moss it was a very steep decent and that played havoc and has since :/ Glad to help with the su...

Where's the club going?

Is it going anywhere? After the pathetic turn out for the AGM last night I thought it was worth a mention as at the moment it looks like the club is doomed. I've been involved too long to say nothing and let it all dry up. We might be at the point where we have so much social media we don't need to ...

Just to inform you guys that we have had a membership application sent in this morning from non other than Mr Dave Porteous. Dave's re joined the BHPA and will be out on the hills soon.

For those who haven't heard of him he goes back a long way flying hang gliders.

Welcome back Dave

Just to add to Gary's post! You do not have to have been flying for years and years to be on the committee and help run the club all it takes is enthusiasm. I can list several new and not so new members/pilots who could help do the job. It's funny because when I joined the club in the year 1879 the ...

No wasn't the full mylar racer that I used in the League that took a bit of getting used too. I bought this from a guy in Glasgow who hardly ever flew and kept it in a poly tube its in as new condition.

I sold Dave this! I bought it from a guy in Glasgow and it was stored in a tube. It was as new when I bought it and just as good when I sold it! Great great glider of it's time and probably much better than any paraglider even now.......But it takes a lot of skill to fly one of these old birds :)
