Hope to make it!

SIV trip 2007

Hello!

Has anyone got any good SIV photos / video from the famous NHPC SIV trip to Olu Deniz 2007?

The LLSC club night on monday are having an SIV discussion and I am to give my low airtimer not-very-brave-pilot (!) perspective.

Cheers

News from X-Scotia

Congratulations Paul! Second place in the 2009 X-Scotia in very hot weather with windy conditions not allowing much flying - so a pretty hard slog round. Only 5 finishers this year, so he done really well.

X-Scotia blog at www.shpf.co.uk if anyone is interested.

Try Sunsoaring Paragliding insurance - link off the Northern Paragliding website. We've got an annual policy with them and they got me home ok from France in March following a ski accident. Still sorting out the claim for medical expenses but no complaints so far! They include paragliding as standar...

Hello! Having been to John Silvesters talk at the SHPF Gathering last night I would recommend that if you can get along to the one run by the CSC on 6th March then do so! I wish I had the guts to do even a fraction of what he has, but being as I haven't it was fascinating to hear his tales and see t...

accomodation

Me again! Just another reminder about the SHPF gathering 24th / 25th January. Attcached is a flyer for the John Silvester talk. A couple of local pilots are having folk back to theirs after the talk and should be able to provide accomodation depending on numbers (probably floorspace, but should be a...

booking info

Hi Everyone

Attached is a booking form for the SHPF Gathering. I am not clear on the evening arrangements yet, but there is likely to be something happening, possibly hosted by Gordon and Tina, who some of you will know from Olu Deniz. I'll post soon when I know more.

Happy New Year!

Sunday 15th

Hope you had a good day in the Cheviots. We ended up at the Ochils. Really nasty long steep walk up Alva Glen in the sun! We decided to take the tandem up - my first flight with Ian. It was excellent - launched straight into a thermal - up to cloudbase and over the back........no messing. That would...

Its a good point. From a novice point of view it can be difficult to judge when a cloud stops being a friendly cloud and starts being a nasty one. I was left on my own last saturday and landed because i didn't like the look of a cloud and was asking Ian about it afterwards, because i was probably be...

The exam was longer than I thought - but that was probably something I should have known beforehand (bad preparation!). Some of the questions were harder than I thought they would be or phrased differently. The interpretation of synoptic charts etc was more in depth than I anticipated - but then I d...
