I don't think anybody that attended the course would have walked away with the wrong idea. A big thamks must go out to Lance for organising it and Pete and Dave for their very professional delivery. The wealth, knowledge and experience that Dave and Pete have was evident for all to see and you could...

Glenn, Can you expand on your commet that 'the pressure DECREASES (ie there is the exact opposite of compression) due to conservation of energy principles and the pressure gradient balances the gain in kinetic energy.'? I can't find Gordie's quote that you refer to so don't know the full background ...

I bumped into Jocky a few weeks ago up Catbells about to take his his 6 year old son for a fly. As they were strapping in Seb asked his dad how you start a SAT and the instructions seemed simple, concluding in 'then just wack it in'. I'm not sure who was at the controls 5 minutes later on...

Fantastic video. Really nice flights on Skiddaw both yesterday and today. Today I was able to soar the small cragg which you pass over at 1.05 of the video which was followed by a fabulous 2700ft fly down. First time I've flown that end of Skiddaw. Can believe the number of pilots I saw on Skiddaw t...

There are a lot of 'facts' floating around. I will repeat what I have heard from someone who I believe to be reliable regarding the one of the mountain rescue teams, who we all know are volunteers. On the Saturday they were willing to go out and rescue known casualties who needed their help, but not...

There's not much detail in that review. He is the CFI of FlyBubble so will know what he is talking about but it doesn't make any reference to the level of pilot it is aimed at. All it says is that it is comfy and has lots of adjustments. 'Not overly unstable or twitchy' suggests that it may be sligh...

That'll be the yan. You do however realise that we were not joking about Cockup, Little Cockup and Great Cockup...look 2km and 4km north of Skiddaw summit. They also featured in 'It'll be alright on the night 9'

I think you'll have to be a bit more cunning than this to sneak in below the Cumbrian radar. Surely the sheepfold is one of the first places Gordie will check.

That's the last time we're taken in by the offer of fruit pastilles.

Everyone seems fairly negative about the north lakes yesterday. I personally had a great flight from Jenkin. Had a brief play around above take off then tried to go over to the summit but there was nothing but sink as I crossed Applethwaite Gill. Had a quick look around the next bulge but still no l...

Ah, so I wasn't seeing things. I was driving towards Penrith and could see some suspicious looking things on top of Clough but was too busy avoiding caravans to get a good look.

Had you NOTAMed the site, if so then you should report it. CSC had a presentation a few weeks ago from an RAF pilot and he was very clear that they receive all NOTAM's and have to change their route to avoid them. He also encouraged us to report the incident if we feel that they are too close.

A couple of years ago a paraglider landed close to me and broke his ankle and a helicopter came to pick him up. We had a running commentary on the radio from pilots sat further up the hill, with two groups or mountain rescuers coming from different sides of the hill racing the helicopter. I was impr...

I'll be flying Jenkin or Blease tomorrow depending which way it edges. Not going to fall in to the too keen trap again of getting up there too early.

My number is 07962264415 if anyone wants an update on the conditions.

Drove home from work at 1700 today and there were around a dozen people flying from Blease and about 6 flying from Jenkin. I landed from Jenkin at 18:45 when the lift had stopped. Don't think there's gonna be much change in conditions tomorrow so I'll be heading up to the stone circle then either Bl...

Sorry Gordie, what were you saying about our two weeks of summer? Severe weather warnings for the entire west coast. Atleast we got one good week in.
