You did the right choice Gary. Although the cloud lifted, the wind picked up also. It would have been ok for the hangliders if it hadn't been so gusty ( 16mph at times and gusting to 35 ) Non of us flew in the end.

Well done. We went to Tailbridge yesterday afternoon. It was cloudy dull and only very weak lift. We have Wether fell, Cross fell and Tailbridge situated in between and the conditions can be very different at each site.

Thanks Gary. I think this is worth me looking into as I'm struggling to get flying in a SW to SSW and the only other option seems to be to buy a 4x4 and go to Cross Fell.

Murton Pike

Had a look out to Murton Pike last week while on the A66. I was wondering for those who have flown it; Do you park in the car park at the village and then carry up? There is a nice track up the hill which would be fantastic for taking a hanglider up there, then taking the car back down to the car pa...

I enjoyed the flight, but I was also disappointed at the same time. I made a couple of bad errors. After doing the hard part of the flight (working any lift for over 10 mls on falling ground) and finally getting high with really good looking clouds and expecting an easy ride to the coast I left the ...

Downloading flights to xc league problems

I'm having problems downloading flights to the xc league on here. I have tried directly from my digifly instrument though the digifly software. Also have tried through gps dump and seeyou and also converting file types. Flight info looks ok on gps dump (date time position speed height etc) and also ...

Yes, Cross Fell would have been the chose place to go, but 4Wd needed.
We went to Tailbridge but it was just a tad too windy and gusty.

Yes Gary, but not many. Don't know about Cheviots but Dave Hume and me fly Carlton and Tailbridge, although Dave doesn't get out on weekends now. I was out at Model on Sat, so couldn't make it out on Sun. It was actually quite light and nearly went down ( 2 other HGs bottom landed) No PGs were out. ...

Steve Clarehugh

Just heard that sadly Steve Clarehugh was killed in a road traffic accident yesterday.
Many will remember Steve as the CFI at Eshott airfield. He had a distinct teaching style and taught many many people to fly microlights.
