Ooooooh! Getting bitchy now........ :D :D I will concede that there is a little help given by the fact that the Brevant take off is at 2000m........! Still an amazing place to fly, although the valley wind in Chamonix can be vicious in the afternoon. And the field directly behind the landing field i...

Steve.... 22/7/06 from Chamonix Brevant t/o....... and it was only 10,299ft..... But your post sums up the pleasure i get from flying...... Strong climbs, where you are having to concentrate 100% to stay in the thermal, low saves, where you have picked your landing field, swearing to your self, then...

Gary...... can I suggest you read the couple of posts before that, rather than being selective? I read Irwyns post from a cynical lawyers perspective...... The XC league is perhaps a misnomer. NHPC XC flight log would be better. it is good to be able to compare peoples flights, not only in this country but also abroad..... for example there are a number of people who have flown petit tours at Annecy. It is really interesting to be able to compare these...

Ideally we could do with a sixth member?? Does anyone want a drunken night in the Dales on Saturday?

John.... Yes you have to map the size of the thermal...... but as steve said it depends on the size of the thermal. A paraglider can turn pretty much in its own radius... in other words almost on its own wing tip. Just wait till the SIV.. :D SOOO... if you enter a strong punchy thermal, the wing wil...

Err.... that wasnt actually what i was saying John......! I was talking about entering a thermal, not exiting one! As you enter the rising air in a thermal the wing will drop back behind you, at this point... HANDS UP!! whenever the wing is behind you always let it fly. Then as it recovers the wing ...

Flying Saturday

At the minute the only decent day over the bank holiday weekend appears to be Saturday. 8mph SW forecast at Warcop, and similar at Carlisle airport. So it looks like Cross Fell may be on? Anyone planning on flying? Can we eventually have a day at Cross fell with some wind?? Last 3 times I have been ...

Today is certainly blown out.... I spoke to Tony Anderson at 11:30, who was sat at Hartside with the wind blowing upto 40mph.

Tomorrow? Looks doubtfull, and you certainly dont want to be flying TP if it is very strong.

It is a weekend for Brownie points.....
