Far better to pick the teams from a hat, otherwise you are going to end up with AliG, RonDon, Chris Foster etc in one team. But it would introduce the possibilities of transfers between teams, transfer fees, transfer windows, the possibility of large brown paper bags stuffed with fivers being handed...

Avatar

I was speaking to Colin Chapman at our Christmas night out, who was raving about Avatar, the film, which he had seen at the Metrocentre Imax screen in 3d. He described it as one of those most amazing experiences, like going to the cinema for the first time as a child, and your jaw hitting the ground...

Whilst on my travels I have met with a number of members of Southern clubs, including a couple from Avon and South Wales clubs, and got chatting to them about the BCC, the organisation of it, the rule changes last year, and matters generally. I think we are far better out of it. An inter club Northe...

Ahhhhh - it is good to see you are back Neil, with the rational level headed and plausible arguments.

Next week it will be sending them up Chimneys!

How was Mexico??

Yep.

I am sat at my desk at work, although we have had no post for three days now, and it appears everyone else is wrapped up warm at home.

It is not the Jeep I am worried about - it is the other idiots on the road in their two wheel drive cars, driving as if it was the middle of summer. Including the one the other night who sat about 10 ft from my rear bumper. I eventually pulled over and let him pass. And then the other extreme of peo...

My thoughts were exactly the same Gary, and I was just about to put a post on about tonights meeting.

I could probably make it, but the concern is the forecast for more snow this evening.

happy New Year everyone!

I thought it might have been a flyable day today, but given nearly the foot of snow that now lies in Stocksfield, I can not even get to the bottom of the drive.

Have a good far flying year. :D :D

But the fact is that it IS a paraglider, and this possibly represents one of those quantum leaps forward in performance that happen from time to time, and as such should be applauded. You can still stuff it in a rucksack and carry it on your back to the top of the hill, or even take it on holiday wi...

the thing is there might be a day where they dont need to test for collapses No Gary, your paraglider is always going to collapse. The wing is designed to collapse in a uniform way. It is a safety valve. We had a few discussions whilst out in SA about the BBHPP, and development wings in general, in...

The carbon stiffeners are not solid though - they can apparently be wrapped around a finger. Hence the argument over what amounts to "rigid".

I look forward to having a go on Garys demo...... :D :D

It is pretty amazing. A two line glider, which relies on carbon stiffeners to give rigidity. Which is where the dispute arises, as the technical definition of a paraglider is a wing with no solid structure. Seems to me like other manufacturers are spitting the dummy over its success in the PWC. I am...

Something to look forward to....

It is cold and miserable here, dark nights, dark mornings and damp days.

No flying.

So why not get yourself of to Brazil in February??

I am told the current price for flights to Rio is £410 return, which is amazing!

And something to look forward to on these miserable days....

This thread has now been running for just over a week, and I think is now probably the longest thread there has ever been on here - sad really that it is not about epic flying exploits. It has however been fun, and I think there are clearly two joint winners, in no particular order ( yes - I was wat...

Kendal Mountain Festival

As Brian said, it was a little wet in the Lakes this weekend! But we made it across to Kendal for the Mountain Festival, and went to see Alain Robert speak on Saturday night. You will probably have seen him on the recent channel 4 programme, climbing the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpar. What an amaz...

I love the thought of someone, nearly 100 years ago, erecting a gravestone to their dog.

Susan would love to know where the walk is.

You still have not read the original rules Dave!!!! You have to post a song relating to flying, mentioning flying in the song title or lyrics, or with some link to flying, the more remote the better So something in the lyrics is allowed. However Kitts "Comfortably Numb" is stretching it a ...
