Re: Sea breeze prediction

Yep, interesting.
I don't look at Rasp in that much detail but should do as what I have witnessed first hand seems to correlate with their predictions. Earlier seems to be better at Hogden I assume before the sea breeze has a chance to wash over the lowlands.

Re: committee meetings

Gary

I think the committee should meet indepently and be trusted to only refer to the club when necessary.

Club meetings should be for the benefit of members either in a social or development perspective.

Broken mobile spare required..help!

Sorry to pester you all but I broke my mobile and need a replacement, does anyone have an old Android phone they wish to sell...anything considered. In meantime I’m without any form of social media (WhatsApp included), so please bear in mind the devastating affect this is having on my mental health....

I only surf the web to check the weather and then communicate with mates via Watsapp. So, as Aeros states, why don't we develop a kicking weather page on the NHPC and that will generate the traffic. My guess is that most people will, as I do, check through all the highlighted tags once they have arr...

I agree with all of the above. For me it's a balance between what my aspiration are for the day, cost, time etc. My advise is, (regardless of how irritating Gary's constant mutterings are) tap into the 'happy bus' group, forge other subgroups, ping ideas of each other and liaise members from other a...

There's an argument for and and against using a vario, e.g. for get you soaring sooner can help you visualise where lift is against it can over stimulate distract from more import issues you stop relying on 'feel' and observation skills Personally I advocate switching it off every now and then e.g. ...

In terms of skill development your better off flying without a vario at first. The thing I'm aiming at is flight logging as a means of evidencing experience and for post flight analysis.

Will ask a few shops for their opinion.

Ron, no criticism meant just, being aware of your experience and knowledge, would like to hear of any proposed solutions from you. Yep, Spain is a little to south for me as well. Like Brian I'm hoping to drive through the French and Italian Alps next year picking out the flying sites as I go. If anyone wants to hook up as an alternative to the Spain trip give me a shout .....may even be able to do a bit of XC coaching.

1. Livetrack enabled device (Safety)
2. Radio (Safety and Coaching)
3. data logger (coaching, i.e. evidencing flying experience)

These are all peripherals. Unless we get a lot more money I would expect new pilots to purchase their own harness, wing, reserve and helmet.
