well a canny day on cross fell and nearly a competion
well after driving pver in bright sunshine and then strong winds faith was restored at the cafe with quite a light wsw.
straight up to high cap and all was looking well with nice light winds so we all ended up flying with task set then the rain looked like it was coming in.
we all landed and took off again a hour later but just me ron and neil and then the wind picked up though it was fine in the air. ron almost made the sheep pens and back over to the trig point at man at edge so defnately in the lead.
i think we done well with 15 pilots turning out so thanks for such a good turn out
cheers gary

Inner coward
Could not agree more Jim , no shame in listening to the inner coward , mine seems to have more say than I do but suppose that's how I'm still kicking mate. I still think it was Ron's day sunday.
Cheers

Confused..
Graham, never knock yourself for making you own decision not to fly ! but I'm a bit confused.. Gary's post said light winds so why were you sittting it out on the hill ?
Well done Ron Don if the final decision has been made.

Rons the champ --- I've Just been up to his house to give him the trophy, and had a very pleasant chat with him and his lovely wife Moll, --- nice to see a task was set and fought for, and very well deserved it was too.
It couldn't go to a more deserved pilot in my opinion, and well done Gary Stenhouse for motivating everyone and getting the comp up and running this year.

Light winds
Ron, it's was nice when we first arrived and ev one was quick to launch but after 20-30 mins some showers appeared out front so most landed and milled around enjoying the crack , Gary n Neil then launched in stronger wind and seemed to be doing well.
An older fella then launched from well down the hill and was at the left hand gully and was sucked up toward the heavens at a hell of a rate, seeing him made all our minds up that it was way to strong/lively as he was going backwards more than forwards!
It took all Gary's and Niels experience to get back on terra-firma. So it started well but ended as forecasted in stronger winds.
